About this site
This education website is a subsidiary section of the London Canal Museum
main website. It has its own distinct identity and is divided into three
sections:
- The Teacher Zone - aimed at the teaching profession and also at others with
a professional interest in education and museums, such as home educators. The
Teacher Zone has a different style to the rest of the site, as it is for a
different audience. It includes pages to guide teachers on the resources,
offline and online, that London Canal Museum has to offer. These are grouped by
curriculum stage and offer a comprehensive catalogue of our extensive resource
range. All teacher-led materials are available for free download.
- The Learning Zone - aimed at children The main offering is a set of seven
"enquiries" aimed especially those studying at Key Stage Three of the
UK National Curriculum. These enquiries comprise a question and six
"slides" of answers. They are all illustrated and many have
additional "pop-up" illustrations and additional text available. In
the Learning Zone there is also a quiz, suitable for older children and adults,
and a drawing to colour, suitable for younger children.
- The Family Zone - aimed primarily at parents or at parents and children
together. This is a different route to the resources and includes some
additional material aimed mainly at parents and guardians.
All pages have a link either to the main education menu, or to one of the
Zone menus as appropriate.
We welcome feedback on the education site. Please use the
