Worshipful the ALDERMEN and Common-Council

of the

CITY of LONDON

on the

importance and great utility of CANALS in general;

The advantages which may fairly be expected from the CANAL now proposed;

And the necessity of promoting, near the Metropolis, such improvements as are now carrying on in the more distant parts of this Kingdom, as being the true means of preserving to the Port of London that superiority in foreign ans well as country trade, which it has hitherto enjoyed.
