Support
There are a variety of opportunities for business sponsorship available, ranging from support for an event at a cost of £200 to sponsorship of a part of our development programme. The museum is keen to work with business sponsors and can offer a range of benefits:
The best known touring theatre company on the canals, Mikron Theatre performs for two nights at London Canal Museum each summer. A sponsor is sought to contribute around £500 in return for which the sponsor's name will be used on the programme (timescale permitting) and on publicity for the shows and of course at the performances. There will be an opportunity to bring guests to the performances and to provide a buffet or cheese and wine reception beforehand in a private room or in the museum's main gallery. We believe this opportunity would suit a small or medium sized business operating in London or associated with the canals.
The museum's Bantam Tug is a working historic boat and it's maintenance, insurance, licence and fuel have to be supported by the Canal Museum Trust from other income - the Tug only occasionally generates income thorugh use in filming or publicity work. The tug is normally moored close to the museum but in the summer we usually take it to at least two outdoor events in the London area. A sponsor is sought to be associated with the tug who would contribute up to £1,000 per year to its running costs and maintenance. In return the sponsor could have a discrete but clearly visible logo in the cabin window (the livery cannot be changed) and a mention in the museum and online. There could be other possible opportunities, such as rides for guests at a summer reception, subject to insurance requirements.
The museum has ambitions plans for further redevelopment focussing on the first floor but also including additional exhibits on the ground floor. Eventually the excavation and restoration of the ice wells might be considered. The most immediate opportunity is to support the redevelopment of the first floor and the provision of a stair lift for disabled persons to reach it, which we hope to carry out during the 2002-3 financial year. The opportunities for participation are very varied and don't necessarily involve support for the whole development. It is likely that at least £5,000 would be needed by a potential sponsor.
