Santa's Special Sunday

Father Christmas, Boat trip and more

What's On

Santa's Special Sunday - on 9th December 2012 - is a family event in which Father Christmas will see children in his cabin during a short boat trip on the Regent's Canal. The boats have limited capacity and should be booked online in advance. There will be activities for children in the museum, and these will be available to all children, whether or not a boat trip and meeting with Father Christmas has been booked. All arrangements are providional at present.

See Santa on a Boat

The boat will take you on a short cruise on the Regent's Canal. There is a cabin, so you will not have to travel outside. In the rear cabin, Father Christmas will see each child for a few minutes during the cruise and there will be a small wrapped present for each child.

Activities in the Museum

Christmas Tree

In the museum, children will be able to take part in table-top activities making Christmas cards with canal images and drawing. In addition, all our usual range of children's activities will be available, such as bridge-building and Henrietta's Trail around the museum.

Refreshments

There will be a free mince pie for all visitors and a free glass of mulled wine for adults, fruit juice for children.

Tea/coffee/chocolate will be available from a machine.

Carols

We plan to have carol singing - but this may not be for the whole time.

Other boat trips

London Canal Museum offers guided tunnel boat trips on certain Sundays in the summer. These are suitable for adults and older children. Please check this website for further information. There are regular trips between Camden and Little Venice operated by commercial companies. Groups can charter a boat for a tunnel trip of their own. Please see our Community Narrowboat page and our Boat Trips on London Canals page.

Timetable

Boat times will be regularly from late morning until about 1630. The last boat will return to York Way (near King's Cross Station) not to the museum. The boat trip lasts about 20-25 minutes.
