Venue Hire
A party to say "thank you". A reception for clients or business contacts. A chance to encourage networking. London Canal Museum is a corporate venue that's different from all the others. The accessible central London venue, within 10 minutes' walk of St. Pancras International Station, is a place of character and interest for an enjoyable corporate occasion and we have wide ranging experience of helping corporate clients make their events a success.
When your company needs to impress with memorable corporate entertainment, hiring a museum is so much more interesting than using a hotel! Guests can look forward to an interesting occasion from the day they are invited and this will help to encourage a good attendance compared to an event in a bland and boring conference room. Corporate hospitality at London Canal Museum can be combined with a boat trip or even a dinner cruise starting from our own mooring. Dinner under our roof can be a sophisticated, candle-lit occasion, helped by careful use of lighting to emphasise the naturally attractive features of the heritage building, or it can be an informal evening: we are nothing if not flexible and customisable.
The museum building has character in abundance. It was built as an ice warehouse for Carlo Gatti, a celebrated ice merchant and restaurant owner, who also poularised ice cream. One of the Victorian ice wells that are beneath the floor can be viewed through an opening. The charm of the building and its setting appeal to people of all ages and from all backgrounds. Events can be as formal or informal as you want to make them and there is scope for you to create a theme reflecting your business.
We understand the needs of our business clients and we'll talk your language, helping you to plan a corporate event that makes the right impression and goes smoothly from start to finish.
Networking opportunities are a key purpose of many business receptions and corporate entertainment events. The museum makes it easy for strangers to strike up conversations - there is always plenty to talk about, in attractive surroundings, with colourful and interesting exhibits as a backdrop to the event. The museum creates a relaxing atmosphere that puts people at ease.
We are extremely flexible and this is one of many event plans. We'll help you plan your own event that is tailored to your exact needs. There are no standard packages here.
Alternatively of course, dinner could be served in the attractive surroundings of the museum. See our Large Picture Gallery for numerous photographs showing the wide variety of decor schemes that can be achieved.
We can provide a range of furniture, projector, screen and video, and a simple kitchen. Most audio-visual requirements can be met in-house and we can hire in equipment in those rare cases where we cannot. We provide glassware hire, we order in ice, we can provide bar staff and we make coffee. You are free to use the outside caterers of your choice, whether they bring in drinks, snacks or a lavish meal. We provide coat rails and hangars. There are modern toilets including a toilet for disabled persons. Power supplies are available around the walls of the museum so that nowhere is far from one if you need to use electrical equipment. The ground floor comprises displays and the museum shop and there is access to the canalside from there. There is approximately 300 square metres of circulating space. On the first floor are more exhibits and a larger circulating area.
With no fewer than five stations within walking distance we're one of London's most accessible venues for corporate entertainment. You can walk to King's Cross, St. Pancras International (for Eurostar and domestic services to the east Midlands, South Yorkshire, and Kent), and Euston stations. We are also only a few minutes from the City of London or the West End. Cabs and minicabs can be arranged to pick up guests from our door and there are Underground routes in every direction. The museum is an ideal venue for events where guests are attending from as far afield as Paris, Bruxelles, Brighton, Dover, Newcastle and Manchester, all of which are a direct train journey without a change.
