About

The Canal Museum Trust is the governing body of the Museum and a Registered Charity, No 277484. It was formed in 1979, and its objects are:

To advance public education in the history and use of inland waterways by the preservation and display for the benefit of the public objects and other material of historical or other interest associated with inland waterways.

The Canal Museum Trust is an independent organisation and receives no subsidy. The museum is funded by its own income from admissions, moorings, venue hire and the museum shop.

Management

The Trust is managed by a Council of Management whose members are the trustees of the Charity. The members of the Council of Management are:

Membership of the Trust

Membership is open to anyone who supports our objectives and work. There are two classes of membership:

Members may attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting and any special general meeting which may be called. They elect the Council of Management. An application for membership form is available online.

All the members of the Council of Management and most of the staff engaged in the work of the museum gives their time on a voluntary basis. The Trust has only two part-time salaried staff.
